Games between the Wellington Dukes and Trenton Golden Hawks are known as the Battle of Quinte and last night’s tilt was certainly a battle, at least physically.
It was a chippy, penalty filled game that saw the Dukes assert their dominance in an 8 to 2 win in front of almost 450 fans at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens.
Teddy McGeen scored a hat trick and Wellington capitalized on 3 power plays and burned the Golden Hawks for a short-handed goal as well.
The Dukes outshot Trenton 35 to 22.
Meanwhile, in Junior C playoff action Amherstview defeated the Napanee Raiders 4 to 3. The series is tied at one game apiece.
