Provincial Police are confirming that the dangerous drug Fentanyl has been found in Northumberland County.
The Northumberland Street Crime Unit came into contact with a large amount of a substance recently, which tested positive as Fentanyl and police want to let the public know.
While the specifics are being withheld due to an ongoing investigation, OPP say Fentanyl is becoming more prevalent as criminals use it to enhance their profits within the illegal world of drug trafficking.
Police say you can’t smell it, or taste it, but minimal amounts can be fatal.
The initiative to track down the drug is included in the OPP’s “Safe Communities, A Secure Ontario” program.
