The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board is looking to be proactive with new training they are set to roll out.
Superintendent Cathy Portt updated trustees Monday night on training for naloxone kits. Naloxone kits are used to block the effects of opioids, especially in overdose situations.
The training, in partnership with the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit, will be spread out across local secondary schools.
Director of Education Mandy Savery-Whiteway says community members are aware there is a real concern.
She says this is one more thing we put in place, which could help someone in need.
Those trained in first aid will get the Naloxone training.
