The City of Quinte West, Hastings County and the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board have come together on a land purchase in Trenton.
At Monday night’s public school board meeting, trustees approved the sale of the former College Street Public School.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says they wanted to ensure they made the purchase, before someone else came along and scooped it up.
The asking price was $400,000.
Harrison says their goal is to bring Sidney Street down to Dundas Street someday.
He says this deal would be a major part of making that a reality.
