Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis made a funding announcement Friday that will benefit young Canadians to obtain jobs.
MP Ellis was at Queen Victoria School to announce the federal government is providing students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 the opportunity to learn coding and other digital skills, with the help of a $50 million federal program through CanCode.
There will be a $2 million investment through Let’s Talk Science which is a program to teach over 28,000 students and over 600 teachers coding and digital skills needed for the middle class jobs of tomorrow.
Ellis says, “we’re positioning Canada for future success across all industries and sectors because these kids will facilitate digital adoption, making all Canadian industries more profitable and globally competitive.”
The investment will take place over two years.
