Quintevation presented its plans to grow Bay of Quinte area businesses to Belleville city council Monday night.
Chair of QuinteVation Ryan Williams told council the main focus is to grow the population of young families in the area.
Williams said while large cities may experience 250% growth in the future, in rural areas it will only be 30%.
Cathy Ireland, coordinator of the REVUP program, explained a company with a million dollar business and 10 to 12 employees can participate, getting help from resident entrepreneurs for six months to grow the business further.
Two companies have already participated, Clevr and NESDA. The aim is to have six new companies by April.
QuinteVation is sponsoring the first-ever Rural Innovation Destination conference in the fall of 2018.

Belleville is moving ahead with reinforcement work on the Palliser Bridge in Foxboro.
The rehabilitation of the bridge, part of the Build Belleville project, has been delayed because of environmental issues but the condition of the bridge has deteriorated and weight restrictions are in place.
A long-term temporary repair is being put in place which will allow the bridge load limits to be removed and allow the city to postpone further rehabilitation for up to 10 years.
A staff report indicates the work requires only a temporary single lane closure, since it does not require excavation around the site, making it a candidate for winter work.
Monday night, city council awarded the contract to the numbered company 2608558 at $268,406 plus tax.
