While thousands of students missed five weeks of classes, due to a labour dispute between unionized faculty and Ontario’s 24 colleges, including Loyalist, the majority of them are sticking with their programs.
The province has released the final numbers for students who accepted full tuition rebates following the strike, which ran from October 16th, until the government instituted back-to-work legislation on November 20th.
Across Ontario, 90% of students have decided to continue on with the shortened semester and at Loyalist 316 students, or 11.26%, decided to drop out and get their money back.
Students can also apply for the Student Strike Relief Fund and the college says it will make sure that all eligible applications are honoured.
