An online petition is starting to pick up steam, in the debate over renaming a Belleville high school.
At www.change.org, you will find a petition titled “Stop Moira Secondary name change”.
As the title of the petition is entitled, it is asking Quinte residents to support keeping the east Belleville high school named Moira.
The name change has been selected by the board for 2018, when many Quinte Secondary and all Moira students amalgamate.
The board has requested a new school build from the province, but there could also be a renovation at the current Moira site.
Their goal is to get to 2,500 hundred names.
