The top 2 teams in the OJHL had a showdown in Wellington yesterday.
Thanks to a 2-0 first period lead the visiting Oakville Blades came out of it with a 3-2 victory to end the Dukes winning streak at 7. Mitchell Mendonca and Declan Carlile scored for Wellington.
Dukes coach Scott McCrory says falling behind early in the first period cost them.
Wellington and Oakville are tied with 51 points. The Dukes are home to the Toronto Patriots Friday night.
In Provincial Junior āCā hockey the first place Napanee Raiders shutout Gananoque 3-0. Napanee outshot the Islanders 54-15. Jeremy Piazzi picked up his fourth shutout of the season. Napanee leads the East Division with a 21-1-0-1 record.
And Amherstview defeated the Campbellford Rebels 9-1.
