Shorthanded Dukes roll to seventh straight win
Missing five players from their lineup, the shorthanded Wellington Dukes got some big reinforcements in earning their seventh straight victory, 4-2 in Markham over the Royals.
Surviving some early penalty trouble, the Dukes got a pair of goals and an assist from Andrew Rinaldi, a game-winning goal from Mitch Mendonca and a powerplay tally from Keegan Ferguson.
Jackson Arcan pitched in with two assists.
Jonah Capriotti stopped 36 of 38 shots in net for the win.
Wellington hosts another top team, the Oakville Blades, at 2 p.m Sunday afternoon at Essroc Arena.
G-Hawks roughed up at home
For the second straight game, the Trenton Golden Hawks had a rough go of it against a North Division opponent, losing 6-1 at home to the Newmarket Hurricanes.
Caleb Boman notched the only Trenton goal on the powerplay.
The G-Hawks make a quick turnaround Saturday night to face the Georgetown Raiders, the first time since the Dudley Hewitt Cup in May. Puck drop from Alcott Arena is 7:30 p.m.
Jr C- Pirates, Raiders win
In Campbellford, the Picton Pirates survived an early scare to beat the Rebels 13-2.
Jordon Cannons and Nate Boomhower each recorded two goals and an assist for the Pirates.
Travis Bennett and Dakota Bell scored for Campbellford.
And in Napanee, the host Raiders bolstered their Tod Division lead with a 6-3 win over the Port Hope Panthers.
Josh Murphy led the scoring with two goals and an assist, while Ryan Casselman added a pair of markers.
