A southwestern Ontario wine festival has been fined more than $65,000 for two liquor licence offences following the death of an 18-year-old worker in a car crash.
Emily Bernauer died in 2014 after leaving the The Shores of Erie International Wine Festival in Amherstburg.
A Windsor court heard that she had been working in the Sobey’s booth at the event and had consumed alcohol.
Festival chairwoman Karen Gyorgy says the board decided a few months ago that the event will no longer happen.
The festival corporation has six months to pay the fine.
