Fire destroyed part of Coulter Machine and Fiberglass on Foxboro-Stirling Road late this afternoon (Wednesday).
No one was injured, but Finley, a 7-year-old Springer Spaniel cross, was found unconscious in the shop. Firefighters carried him out, and with a specialized mask delivering oxygen, were able to revive him and he was in good condition.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen said the call came in just before 6 p.m. and that the fire started after a series of small explosions.
There were several propane tanks and other flammable material in and around the building.
Coulter Machine shop is an older structure and is behind the family home, which is not far west of Foxboro.
The cause is under investigation and damage is estimated at over $ 500,000.
The property is insured.
Quinte West firefighters received tanker support from Belleville’s Foxboro hall.
