The Hastings Prince Edward School Board finished the 2016-17 school year in the black.
At Monday night’s meeting, Trustee Jennifer Cobb announced a board surplus of just over $2 million.
However, the board’s still paying out unused sick days, which were phased out several years ago.
Superintendent of Business Nick Pheiffer says that cuts the surplus down to about $152,013.
He says they were projecting a deficit of around $360,000, so to finish with a surplus is great.
