The much talked about contaminated land on Catherine Street right across from Trenton Memorial Hospital was discussed again at the Annual General Meeting of OurTMH.
The property had been the preferred location for a health services hub but recently it was announced some of the soil had been contaminated from a long-gone dump and quarry.
Just two weeks ago, the Southeast LHIN said it would prefer a health hub for downtown Trenton instead of near the hospital because of that contamination.
However, the contamination has been found to be not as serious as some had thought.
And, at Wednesday night’s OurTMH meeting, the mayor of Quinte West Jim Harrison claimed it would cost less than $5,000 to clean up the soil on the hospital property.
Consultant’s estimates for a cleanup of the property were $760,000.
A decision on the location is expected soon.
