Northumberland-Quinte West MPP Lou Rinaldi has told Quinte West council that the Ministry of Health is “very leery” of putting medical facilities on or near contaminated property.
Rinaldi was asked by members of Quinte West council last night about his preference for a location for a new health services hub.
Many residents are adamant that it should be built near Trenton Memorial Hospital, but the property there is contaminated and the Southeast Local Health Integration Network has favoured a location nearby in downtown Trenton.

There will be a meeting Thursday afternoon in Belleville between Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison and representatives of the LHIN regarding the health hub’s location.
