Quinte West council will decide whether to do some projects designed to bring revenues and increase municipal energy efficiency.
The Municipal Greenhouse Gas Challenge Fund is open for applications, and city staff is suggesting half of $2.5 million worth of projects could be paid for by the fund.
The projects are LED lighting and HVAC improvements at city hall, rooftop solar panels on the former public works building on Pelham Street, solar panels on the Consolidated Operating Facility, and upgraded heat and power systems at the YMCA.
It’s expected the city’s share of the cost of all projects will be paid off by revenue from the solar panels within 10 years.
Quinte West council meets tonight at 6:30 at city hall.
