Two Hastings County municipalities have received federal funding to assist them with their asset management.
For Centre Hastings it means $36,800 .
Mayor Tom Deline says his municipality has $2.5 million worth of capital assets to manage and this money will help do that.
Further north, Mayor Vivian Bloom of Hastings Highlands says the $20,000 her municipality receives will help ensure public safety, and accessibility compliance.
Bloom says it will allow council to make informed infrastructure investment decisions for more than 30 buildings and facilities.
In announcing the federal funding, Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Mike Bossio said, “Small rural communities often find it very difficult to compete with large communities for existing infrastructure funds. They often lack the necessary human resources relative to larger communities to successfully brand their need and complete complicated application processes, including asset management plans. Small communities also often lack the financial resources needed to hire outside grant writers, or even to pay for the necessary reports to include with their applications.”
