Election Day is just over a month away for Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte on Tyendinaga Territory.
Saturday is nomination day for the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. That is when eligible voters get a chance to present candidates for seats on the band council and for band chief.
Electoral Officer Michelle Maracle.
TYENDINAGA ELECTION
The election is held every two years.
In 2015, longtime Chief R. Don Maracle held his seat in that election against three challengers.
The four councillors elected were incumbents Douglas Maracle and Carl Ted Maracle, and newcomers Debra Vincent and Stacia Loft.
This year’s election will be held December 2.
Michelle Maracle says nine thousand band members, both on and off the Territory, are eligible to vote.
