The Belleville Senators achieved a couple franchise milestones in the state of Pennsylvania Saturday night.
They recorded the first win in team history with a 5-2 win over the Hershey Bears on the strength of the club’s first multi-goal game from Ethan Werek.
Werek also added an assist for a three-point night.
The Markham, Ont. native is on a tryout contract with the B-Sens and talks about his willingness to help the team.
Gabriel Gagne’s late second period goal stood as the game-winner and other tallies went to Jack Rodewald and Chris DiDomenico.
DiDomenico also added an assist in the win and says despite facing some obstacles, the team found a way to come through.
Nick Paul added a pair of assists and other helpers went to Erik Burgdoerfer, Andreas Englund, Jim O’Brien, Max McCormick and Vincent Dunn.
Danny Taylor stopped 17 shots in the Sens cage.
Final shots favoured Belleville 35-17.
The Senators are off until Friday, when they start three games in three days in Hartford. They’ll travel to Providence Saturday and wind down next weekend in Springfield.
All three games can be heard on CJBQ with Jack Miller.
