Dukes top Tigers in battle of division leaders
Four different Wellington Dukes had multi-point games in a 4-1 victory last night over the Aurora Tigers.
Ben Evans led the attack with four assists, Mitchell Mendonca added a goal with two assists, while Andrew Rinaldi and Keegan Ferguson each notched one goal and one assist.
Eric Uba supplied the other goal for Wellington, which ended up being the game-winner.
Jonah Capriotti earned the win in net, stopping 39 of 40 Aurora shots.
Next action for the Dukes is Monday at 7 p.m. in Cobourg. CJBQ will have the broadcast for Prinzen Ford Sales of Bloomfield starting at 6:50.
Pirates upset Panthers, Raiders new #1 in division
The Napanee Raiders are sitting alone atop the Provincial Junior C League’s Tod Division.
They accomplished this with a 14-1 rout of the Campbellford Rebels and received some assistance from the Picton Pirates in their 5-2 road win in Port Hope.
In the Napanee/Campbellford game, Riley Steeves, Cullen Hinds and Ryan Casselman all recorded five points to lead the Raiders attack. Jordan Davis had Campbellford’s lone goal.
Picton meantime, got a pair of tallies from Justin Arnold and singles from Will Harrison, Jordon Cannons and Nick Hoey. Four of their five goals came on the powerplay.
The Pirates are back in action Sunday night in Gananoque at 7 p.m.
