A 22 year-old Belleville man will serve 18 months in jail for his role in a crash with a horse-drawn carriage, south of Owen Sound, which killed a five year old girl.
Alex Silk pleaded guilty to one count of criminal negligence causing death and three counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, in Owen Sound court on Wednesday, October 11th.
Silk was charged in April of 2016 after he grabbed the wheel of the mini van he was riding in and it crashed into the carriage, which had nine people in it.
The crash killed the young girl and sent the other eight people to hospital with various injuries, while Silk and the 60 year-old Marmora man driving the van suffered minor injuries.
Along with the jail time, Silk also faces two years probation, a 10 year weapons ban and a five year driving ban.
