The Belleville Senators are headed off on their first two-city road trip of the American Hockey League Season, with stops in Syracuse, New York and Hershey, Pennsylvania this weekend.
The team took to the ice at Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre for a morning skate, before leaving Belleville Thursday, where Head Coach Kurt Kleinendorst spoke to Quinte News.
He says the team still has lots of improvements to make coming off back-to-back losses in Laval last weekend to start the season.
Kleinendorst says he expects Syracuse, who went deep in the playoffs last year but are also still looking for their first win of the season, to come out aggressively and his team is preparing a game plan for that.
Meanwhile, the roster moves continue ahead of the weekend double-header.
Forward Daniel Ciampini and defenceman Cody Donaghey have been recalled from the ECHL Brampton Beast, after being sent down following the BSens preseason games in Laval.
Donaghey tells Quinte News he’s looking forward to making his pro debut, after finishing a QMJHL career that saw him register 137 points over 235 games on the blue line.
Last weekend, defenders Thomas Chabot and Christian Jaros were both recalled by the Ottawa Senators, following some injuries to players on the NHL roster.
Meanwhile, Coach Kleinendorst says Jack Rodewald is “likely” to return from injury, which will help to bolster the lineup a bit.
Both Friday night’s game against the Crunch and Saturday night’s game against the Bears will begin at 7:00 p.m., with 6:50 p.m. broadcast times live on 800 CJBQ.
