The Belleville Police Service responded to 55 calls for service between October 3rd, 2017 at 5:00 a.m. and October 4th, 2017 at 5:00 a.m.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
On October 3rd, 2017, police attended on Bell Blvd for three separate motor vehicle collisions.
At 9:06 a.m. officers attended on Bell Blvd. at Cannifton Road in relation to an accident involving a crane and a car. There was minor damage only and there were no reported injuries.
At 3:01 p.m. officers attended on Bell Blvd west of Sidney Street in relation to a two-car accident. There was minor damage only and no reported injuries.
At 4:23 p.m. police attended in front of the casino on Bell Blvd. in relation to a two-car accident. One person required medical attention for minor injuries. Public works was required for a clean-up of fluids that were left on the roadway. A driver was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.
At 11:25 a.m. police attended in a parking lot on Dundas Street East in relation to a fail to remain investigation. A licence plate number of the hit and run vehicle was obtained from a witness. The investigation is continuing.
Theft
On October 3rd, 2017, at 12:46 p.m. police responded to a shoplifter call where the offender had fled from the area on foot. Officers located the suspect on the Hwy 62 overpass. The 26-year old Quinte West man, Michael Welch, was charged with theft under $5000 and will appear in court on November 2nd. A further check revealed that he was wanted by the Quinte West OPP on outstanding warrants.
These charges included assault and theft under $5000.
