The province’s Special Investigations Unit is involved after a man on a bicycle was hit by a vehicle near downtown Belleville Saturday afternoon.
The SIU says Belleville police officers called out to the cyclist on the Riverfront Trail in the downtown, but he failed to stop for police.
A very short time later, the 33-year-old man was hit by the vehicle.
He was taken to Belleville General Hospital and then transferred to Kingston General
Hospital with several fractures and other injuries.
The incident occurred around 12:30 Saturday afternoon.
