Residents who use Trenton Memorial Hospital were the real winners Saturday, after Leon’s Trenton and the TMH Foundation held the first Bankers’ Bed Races.
Over $10,000 was raised, as the Trenton Rotary Club, BMO, Scotiabank, TD Bank, Kawartha Credit Union and Quinte First Credit Union went head to head with their own mock beds on wheels.
TD Bank was the overall winner of the races, while Scotiabank won most funds raised, with the spirit award going to Kawartha Credit Union.
Wendy Warner is the Executive Director for TMHF and says this is not a new concept.
Leon’s Trenton Owner Mike Eden says creativity and community support won the day.
Michelle McKay with the Trenton Town Centre Scotiabank says all the Trenton branches came together.
Nick Toritto is the Scotiabank VP for Ontario Central East and says it was a great event to get behind.
Leon’s Trenton’s Buy a Bed campaign sees $25 from every bed sold over $299, going to buy four beds through the TMH Foundation for Trenton hospital. They have raised money for three beds already.
