All of the work done on Brighton’s sewage treatment system over the years seems to have improved it, at least as far as ammonia emmissions are concerned.
At its meeting tomorrow, Brighton council will see a staff report focussing on how much ammonia is left in the system’s run-off.
In the four months running from May to August of this year, two months were under the recommended limit for ammonia, one was at the limit and one month was over.
Last year, the May to August period saw all months over the limit.
In 2015, three of the four months were over the limit, and in 2014, all four were over.
Meanwhile, at tomorrow night’s meeting (Monday), councillors McMurray and Martinello will serve notice that they will make a motion that Brighton build a mechanical sewage treatment plant.
Brighton council meets at 6:30 in council chambers.
