Fire destroyed a house near Centreton, north of Grafton, last night (Sunday).
The fire occurred on Northumberland County Road 22. Alnwick/Haldimand fire crews
responded at around 6:30. Hamilton Township firefighters provided tanker support.
According to Northumberland News, two residents in the house heard a pop sound coming
from the garage before the fire started. It’s believed a gas can blew up. The residents
escaped the fire safely.
Damage is estimated at over $300,000.
