Golden Hawks 0 Tigers 0
It’s not too often you see scoreless ties in hockey these days, but that’s exactly what occurred Friday night at the Aurora Community Centre between the Trenton Golden Hawks and the Aurora Tigers.
Carson Poulin was brilliant in stopping all 31 shots he faced in the goaltending duel against Tigers netminder Bradley Van Schubert.
His best save came in the second period when he stuck his goal stick out to take away a golden opportunity from the Tigers in close.
Final shots favoured Aurora 31-29.
Trenton takes on the Lindsay Muskies on the road Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
Dukes 3 Panthers 2
Andrew Rinaldi’s late second period unassisted goal proved to be the difference in a 3-2 Wellington Dukes win over the Pickering Panthers on the road.
Eric Uba and Teddy McGeen also scored for the Dukes, doing the job 35 seconds apart to begin the game.
Graeme McCrory, Mitchell Martan and Jackson Arcan drew assists.
Goaltender Jonah Capriotti earned first star honours in his first game as a Duke, making 38 saves for his first win.
The Dukes get a brief rest before heading back out on the road to Whtiby to take on the Fury Sunday afternoon. Game time is slated for 2:10 p.m.
