Brighton council wants more information on how to protect the identity and look of older neighbourhoods in the community.
Council has passed a motion asking staff to prepare a draft mature/established neighbourhoods bylaw.
Councillor Brian Ostrander says he and others on council believe some firm rules need to be in place in Brighton’s official plan.
The idea for more stringent regulations for older neighbourhoods stemmed from an application by someone to sever the backyard of a century home so the property could be used to build another home.
Council rejected that proposal.
