The City of Belleville saw the slowest median household income growth from 2010 to 2016 in the Quinte region. Income in the Friendly
City grew just 5.4% over the 6 year period.
According to the 2016 census, the median household income in Belleville was $59,374.
Meanwhile, Hastings County saw the median household income grow the most, going up 21%. Last year, the median household income in
Hastings County was $61,109.
In the City of Quinte West, the 2016 median household income was $66,907 up 9.4% from $60,310 in 2010.
Prince Edward County’s household income last year was $66,140, up 12.7% from $58,670.
The Municipality of Brighton had the highest median household income in the region last year, at $68,683. That was up 8.2% from 2010.
Brighton is in Northumberland County. That county as a whole had a household median income of $70,208 last year, up 12.8% from $62,173.
Greater Napanee’s median household income last year was $64,213, up 15.2%.
In Centre Hastings, median income was $62,464 last year, up 12.6% from $55,478 from the 2010 census.
Further to the north, Bancroft’s income was just $46,336, up 8.2% from the 2010 census.
Meanwhile, the median household income in Canada was $70,336 last year, up 10.8% from $63,467, six years previous.
Statistics Canada says strong resource-centred economies in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland led the way in income growth.
There was slower growth in Ontario and Quebec with declines in manufacturing in both provinces.
