The city of Trenton will be the site of some top-end cinematography later on this month.
The original “Hollywood of the North” is hosting the inaugural Quinte Canadian Filmfest on the weekend of Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 and will showcase some outstanding local and national content.
The Filmfest will coincide with Canada’s 150th birthday and the 100th anniversary of film in Quinte West.
The QCFF originated from another local film festival called The Movie Years Today, which ran for three years from 2013-15.
Festival Director Joel George gives film aficionados a taste of what to expect for the festival.
The list of films that will be shown during the festival is as follows:
Anatomy of Violence – Director: Deepa Mehta, Toronto, ON
As the Crow Flies– Director: Tess Girard, Prince Edward County
Fault– Director: Leigh Ann Bellamy, Kingston, ON
Hello Destroyer- Director: Kevan Funk, Vancouver, B.C.
Hyena Road- Director: Paul Gross, Calgary, AB (Presented in support of Wounded Warriors Canada)
Maliglutit- Directors: Zacharias Kunuk & Natar Ungalaaq, Kapuivik, Nunavut & Igloolik, Nunavut (Film entirely in Inuktitut language)
Operation Avalanche- Director: Matt Johnson, Toronto, ON
Prank- Director: Vincent Biron, Pierreville, Quebec (Film completely in French language, with English subtitles)
The Road to Webequie- Tess Girard & Ryan Noth, Prince Edward County & Chatham-Kent, Ontario
Weirdos- Bruce McDonald, Kingston-born, Toronto-based
Window Horses- Ann Marie Fleming, Vancouver, B.C.
Films will be shown at Centre Theatre, Trenton Town Hall 1861 and Fiesta Lounge in Trenton over the course of the three days.
