Charges continue to pile up against the 33-year-old Quinte West man who led local police on a massive four-day manhunt throughout the region.
Richard Vader faces a slew of charges from multiple jurisdictions following his arrest Saturday in Wallbridge, just east of Frankford.
Quinte Consolidated court officials say Vader now faces eight counts of assault, five counts of failing to comply with a probation order and one count each of uttering death threats, possession of stolen property, mischief under $5,000 and possession of property under $5,000.
Vader is alleged to have stolen several vehicles, including pickups, an ATV, and a motorcycle and spent time running through fields and forests in his flight from police. He was seen in Quinte West, Campbellford, Stirling-Rawdon, and in Belleville.
On Tuesday, Prince Edward OPP issued a press release stating on the morning of August 22 a black 1996 Dodge pickup truck was reported stolen sometime overnight from the Consecon area. The vehicle also had business logos on both doors with the name “GINCO Bobcat Services”. The ignition keys were inside the vehicle.
OPP allege the truck was stolen by Vader who is to make a second video appearance on this matter on Thursday August 31.
Vader appeared by video on Monday, unshaven and wearing a long sleeve brown and green camouflage shirt. Vader’s lawyer Pieter Kort told Quinte News he advised his client to consent to detention for the time being until they have a chance to look at any new charges that police say may be coming.
The investigation continues.
