A Belleville councillor told city council Monday night he objected to what he called a “useless” budget meeting proposed for this fall.
Councillor Paul Carr was commenting on the operating budget scheduled for November.
Carr said council is “a part-time job” and he will make himself available but if “it’s an exercise in uselessness it doesn’t make sense.”
He was commenting on the fact the city has to await the outside agencies to complete their budgets in the spring to complete its own operating budget in April, requiring another round of meetings.
Council decided to set the operating budget in next April. The capital budget session will go ahead this fall.
