Prince Edward County council is joining many others in eastern Ontario in supporting efforts to vastly improve cell phone service and data capacity in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the Eastern Ontario Broadband Network and the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus, Hastings County CAO Jim Pine said that increased data capacity is a must if the region is to compete economically in the years ahead.
And, no one doubts cell phone service needs a boost in certain areas.
After all municipalities in eastern Ontario back the project, it will be taken to the federal and provincial governments for approval and funding support.
The improvements are a huge project, estimated to cost almost 300 million dollars.
