Quinte West council honoured a couple of the city’s residents at its meeting today (Monday).
Sharon Astel-Manual was named the Quinte West Citizen of the Year.
She has served many years as a volunteer with Branch 110 of the Royal Canadian Legion and
with the Trenton Lions Club.
Also, 12 year old Lindsay Crawford of Trenton received a commendation from council for winning three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in July’s Special Olympics Ontario event.
Meanwhile, the mother of well known Quinte West hockey player Brandon O’Quinn, Lorraine, presented council with a cheque of just over $6,000 to support players needing financial help to play minor hockey.
The money came from the 4th annual Batter Up for Minor Hockey event.
For information on how to apply for funding, go to the city of Quinte West’s website.
Brandon O’Quinn played for the Quinte Red Devils, the Trenton Golden Hawks, and the Kingston Voyageurs.
