The usual fun in the sun at the beach in Cobourg turned sour late yesterday afternoon.
Around 4:30, volunteers, lifeguards, the coast guard and Cobourg police officers and firefighters
started searching for a young boy, both on the beach and in the water.
Nothing was found, and at around 8 last night, the search was called off.
Cobourg police believe the missing boy report could have been a false alarm.
