A popular shortcut to avoid traffic lights at the main intersection in downtown Stirling is going to be
short-circuited, at least for a while.
Recent traffic counts showed around 1,000 vehicles a day take James Street up to Victoria or Gore Streets and vice versa to avoid the downtown intersection at Stirling Creamery.
That volume of traffic is seen as far too much for the residential neighborhood.
Stirling-Rawdon council has voted to make a portion of James Street, between Mill and Victoria, one-way
to stop its use as a shortcut.
The move will be made soon, and last for a 3 month trial period.
