We still do not have any word on when Canada’s elite forces members will be coming to the Quinte region.
What we do know is the price tag to move Canada’s Joint Task Force 2 from the Ottawa area to CFB Trenton, is now about $1.2 billion.
According to the National Post, the former Conservative government had earmarked $346 million for the project, however that has gone up by 350 percent.
The scheduled date for the move was anticipated for 2019, however both the Department of Defense and the entire federal government have not made it known if that is still the target.
DND told the Ottawa Citizen last year that the scope of the project continues to be developed to meet minimum operational requirements.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis tells Quinte News that he plans on reaching out to Defence Minister Harjit Saajan on the issue when Parliament resumes in the fall as the project is still in the design phase.
