It has been a summer tradition in Belleville for 3 decades but this Saturday will mark the final Medigas/Rick Meagher Celebrity Golf Tournament to benefit local children with physical challenges. When all is said and done about 3 million dollars will have been raised.
It began in 1988 with then St. Louis Blues captain and Belleville native Rick Meagher.

Medigas took over the tournanment 10 years ago. While the focus remained on helping local children it also introduced the “Driving Dreams for our Youth Scholarship” program. It’s a $5000 scholarship to assist 7 senior students from local secondary schools who are graduating in their 4th year of high school and entering an accredited college or university in a health science field of study.
Medigas regional homecare director for East Canada, Randy McFarland of Belleville says the key to tournament’s success has been the celebrities and golfers who come back year after year.
The Medigas Celebrity Classic tees up at 10:30 Saturday morning at Trillium Wood. Fans are invited to meet the celebrities and get autographs at 9:30.
