A solar panel company that had considered appealing a Belleville council ruling last year has made a different decision.
The issue involved a “failed bid” to obtain Belleville support for a solar panel installation on two schools and the company Ameresco Canada told Quinte News at the time, July 2016, it intended to appeal.
City council voted five to four to not support the application by Ameresco Canada to put solar panels on the roofs of two schools, Susanna Moodie on Avonlough Road and Foxboro Public on Ashley Street.
The company had already put the panels on seven other schools in the area.
City support gives the company points when applying to to be part of the provincial Feed-In-Tariff or FIT program.
Company director of construction Frank Micheli refuted the numbers quoted at council last year that renewable energy contributes to the high cost of electricity.
Micheli said the company was looking at all options, including appeals and possible legal action against the city and/or the Independent Electricity System Operator.
But Micheli told Quinte News Wednesday that the company has decided not to appeal the decision.
