It seems concerns about possible flooding in connection with development of a vacant parcel of land in Belleville’s Thurlow Ward were resolved during Belleville’s planning committee meeting Tuesday night.
Peter McInroy is applying to construct a single detached house on land fronting on Highway 62 which is designated rural land use and environmental protection.
A portion of the property lies within the Foxboro Swamp Provincially Significant Wetland and McInroy, in consultation with Quinte Conservation has mapped the boundaries.
During the meeting, a neighbouring homeowner objected, saying the present culvert in the area caused flooding on his land.
McInroy indicated he would ensure the entrance-way culvert would be properly installed.
The land fronts on Highway 62 and Ministry of Transportation permits are required. A staff report indicates the Ministry has no concerns with the application.
The Planning Committee is recommending city council approve the house construction..
