A house fire today (Sunday), northwest of Trenton in Murray Ward left a couple and another man homeless.
Fire broke out around 11:30 this morning at a bungalow at 474 Downs Road.
The residents and a dog escaped without injury.
Firefighters from both the south and north Murray halls responded, including some
competing in a Scott’s Firefit regional competiton at Centennial Park in Trenton.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says the house, though still standing, cannot be
rebuilt and estimates the damage at $250,000.
An investigation into a cause is underway, but the fire is not considered suspicious.
