A large controversy over a small piece of vacant land will be the subject of discussion in a Kingston courtroom tomorrow (Friday).
City resident and realtor Gary Davidson has claimed that under the Municipal Act, Belleville Mayor Taso Christopher should have left the room and not voted on a major project involving infrastructure upgrades around Maitland Drive because he and his brother owned a small piece of land in the project area.
Tomorrow, at Kingston Superior Court, a judge will hear arguments from lawyers for Davidson and the mayor.
A decision on the matter is expected at a later date.
If found in a conflict of interest situation, the mayor could immediately be removed from office.
