Parking is a perennial issue in any downtown core, and there is anger regarding the parking situation in downtown Belleville these days.
The Belleville Business Improvement Area board of directors is expediting a letter to city staff asking that temporary “one hour parking” signs be installed along Front Street as soon as possible.
Several merchants are furious that some business owners, employees, and others have been regularly parking all day long in “one hour parking” zones.
The problem is that the signs were removed from the street due to reconstruction and haven’t been replaced and meter readers can’t ticket vehicles if there are no signs in place.
