An anniversary dinner with his parents Brian and Ann took on a double reason to celebrate for Nick Cousins Friday night. It was during dinner the 23 year old Cousins received a call informing him he had been traded by the Philadelphia Flyers to the Arizona Coyotes. Cousins and goaltender Merrick Madsen go to Glendale for Brendan Warren and a fifth round draft pick in 2018.
The Coyotes also protected Cousins from the upcoming NHL expansion draft even though he is an unsigned restricted free agent. Cousins says a new contract will take care of itself.
Cousins admits he has already checked out the Coyotes roster to see where he fits in.
Cousins says he has already heard from fellow Belleville native and Coyotes teammate Brad Richardson.
Last year was Cousins first full season in the NHL although he lost 22 games to injury. He scored 6 goals and 16 points but is expected to see more ice time in Arizona.
