We could finally start to see water levels drop in the Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario.
This week, officials with the International Lake Ontario St. Lawrence River Board agreed to increase the amount of water that flows through the Moses – Saunders Power Dam near Cornwall.
They have begun increasing the flow rate another 12,000 cubic metres of water a minute, equivalent to four Olympic size swimming pools every second.
Jacob Bruxer with Environment Canada tells the Globe and Mail, water has already dropped around six centimetres in the Lake since the start of June.
He says this will drop the water levels another point six centimetres a week.
