A pair of houses in Belleville had to be evacuated Tueday evening following a gas leak on Yeomans Street.
Around 7 p.m. city police and fire responded after a man hit a gas line while doing yard work.
Staff Sgt. Al Portt said thankfully no one was injured and the leak has since been contained.
Police blocked off Yeomans Street between Catherine Street and Bridge Street West for a couple of hours but the roadway has since reopened and traffic is moving again.
