Some major news coming out of Wellington this morning as the OJHL Dukes have announced longtime coach and GM Marty Abrams is leaving the team.
Abrams has been behind the bench in Wellington for 16 of the last 18 seaons and has coached more than 1,000 games at the Jr. A level.
During his time in Wellington, the Dukes reached the OJHL final four times, with two Buckland Cup Championships, two Dudley Hewitt Cups and two trips to the RBC Cup National Championship.
Abrams has also been tapped by Hockey Canada to coach at international events six times in his career.
In a release Abrams says it was an emotional decision and that Wellington will always hold a special place in his heart.
He thanks Dukes’ owner Michael Mulvihill and all of the current and former team staff and volunteers for their hard work during his tenure.
