Women are putting on the work boots this month and helping Habitat for Humanity build two houses in Belleville.
Habitat has this week, and the week of June 19 to June 23 aimed at encouraging women to become part of the volunteer teams that build the homes.
Volunteer coordinator Tracy Reid says there’s a project manager on site to direct the work and a large lunch is supplied.
Reid points to 82-year-old woman Shirley Crawford who celebrated her birthday on the build this week.
Two houses on Donald Street in Belleville are being built by Habitat for two low income families that must give 500 hours of sweat equity, and pay back a mortgage.
