Public Health officials are reminding the public about water safety issues when it comes to flood waters, as the Quinte area has been experiencing.
Medical Resident Dr. Peter Oglaza told the Board of Health Wednesday it has mainly been a property problem, but there is a health risk with well water as well.
Prince Edward County Councillor Gord Fox asked if disinfecting with a chlorine product would work.
Oglaza says, not during a flood situation.

He reminds the public that wells need to be tested after any flooding takes place near them.
Oglaza says well owners should be aware if there have been fertilizers or contaminants in the area that could be affected by the flood waters and contaminate the well.
He told the board the local population in the Quinte area “is aware of the risks, and that helps.”
